This lesson will be the Rising Form (Tateru-katachi) in a low bowl (suiban). Joe will start the lesson with a brief overview of the arrangement’s key elements and demonstrate how to create the Rising Form arrangement. Then you’ll make your arrangement! The flowers and containers shown in the photos are examples only. The flowers and containers used in each lesson will vary from those in the photos.

Time & Place
The lesson will start promptly at 4 PM. Please arrive at 3:45 PM so you’ll be set up and ready to start learning at 4:00. The lesson will end by 5:30.
Your help cleaning up the room would be greatly appreciated. We must leave the room and have it look great by 6 PM.
The lesson is held at the Yokoso Center, 1175 Old Henderson Rd, Columbus, Ohio 43220.
Options
There are 2 different options to choose from:
(1) You bring your own container. It should be a low shallow bowl, deep enough to hold a kenzan. It can be round, oval, or a half-circle.
(2) You can borrow a container. There are only a limited number of containers available to borrow.
What To Bring
-The container (if you selected to bring your own container)
-A rectangular or round kenzan that fits your container. Rectangular kenzans are the most commonly used kenzan in the Ohara School. A round kenzan is OK to use and should be about 2” in diameter. Please bring what you have.
-Flower scissors or clippers
-Hand towel
-Paper and pen (to take notes)
-Small bucket (to carry your flowers home with you)
