Description

This lesson will be the One-Row Form (Narabu-katachi). Joe will start the lesson with a brief overview of the arrangement’s key elements and demonstrate how to create the One-Row Form arrangement. Then you’ll make your arrangement! The flowers and containers shown in the photos are examples only. The flowers and containers used in each lesson will vary from those in the photos.

Time & Place

The lesson will start promptly at 10:30 AM. Please consider arriving at 10:15 AM so you’ll be set up and ready to start learning at 10:30. The lesson will end by noon.

Your help cleaning up the room would be greatly appreciated. We must leave the room and have it look great by 12:30PM.

The lesson is held at the Yokoso Center, 1175 Old Henderson Rd, Columbus, Ohio 43220.

Options

-There are 4 different options to choose from:

(1) You bring your own container. It should be a long, narrow container. The ideal container has an opening that is about 14-17” long and about 3” wide.

(2) You can borrow a container from Joe. There are only a limited number of containers available to borrow.

(3) You can purchase a WHITE ceramic container as part of your lesson. It’s about 14” long by 5” wide by 3” tall.

(4) You can purchase a BLACK ceramic container as part of your lesson. It’s about 14” long by 5” wide by 3” tall.

What To Bring

-The container (if you selected to bring your own container)

-3 round or rectangular kenzans that fit your container. Rectangular kenzans are ideal. Round kenzans are OK to use, but they should be about 2” in diameter. Please bring what you have.

-Flower scissors or clippers

-Hand towel

-Paper and pen (to take notes)

-Small bucket (to carry your flowers home with you)

One-Row Form (Narabu-katachi) expresses the rhythmical beauty of an arrangement where the three principle stems (Yaku-eda) are arranged in a row at varying heights and spacing.
